We continue our series on dads talking about sending their kids to school in a foreign country. Lawrence Braniff has two kids in school in Madrid. He suggests that the traditional school setting is not the only option. He and his wife Cathy have sent their two kids to Spanish school half days until they're six, and then home-schooled them.

Many parents choose the option of home-schooling your children. I think it's useful UNTIL they are six, for you can teach them basic things, but are parents prepared to teach them all subjects, such history, literature...?

These have all been really interesting and helpful. We're actually making a move to Madrid and had to pick out a new school for our oldest. We ended up choosing a Spanish system that also teaches English in order to 'ease' him into an all Spanish situation. It was also important to us that he learn to read and write in both languages.
