Kelly we also read your blog very often and would love to buy a book that you wrote. It would be so good.
I love the diaper instructional video. Alleke is adorable.
We tried for months to find a doll for Maetia that wasn’t white. I finally found two: one chinese and one african baby. And they were in a special, ‘educational’ store. Very frustrating.
I was wondering what the official name for the seat that you use for her at the table is called. We are looking for one but don’t even know what they are called so we can ask around. Thanks
Mike and Laura – the seat we use for Alleke at the table is called the Me Too Chair, and it’s made by Phil and Ted’s, an Australian company, I believe. Here’s their web page:

Just read your ‘Summer Project’ post and here is my response:
I have been reading your blog for a year or more. ( I am a mum of three kids 10-21 years old, living in Europe). Your perspective on life is interesting to me because it is different and ‘counter’ our Western culture in many ways. I don’t know whether you are a Mennonite but you remind me of American Mennonite friends whom I love. You are a guy writing about fatherhood and don’t appear to worry about being ‘macho’. You clearly respect your wife and speak highly of her. I like that.
The fact that you are living and raising a child in a different culture also adds flavour to your writings. You have an attitude of humility and willingness to learn from that culture – a lack of arrogance.
– I think you have a lot to offer, so go for it!
I would probably enjoy a book that dealt with the whole cultural experience, not only from a dad’s perspective.
