Hola Cheese!
April’s younger sister Heidi is living with us for the summer, and she decided last week (for no apparent reason) that it would be funny to teach Alleke how to say, “Hello Cheese.”
Not only has Alleke learned the phrase, but she’s repeated it so many times it’s beginning to sound normal to me (just like all those pop songs on the radio that I actually start to like after a while).
When we’re on the street, Alleke changes the phrase to “Hola Cheese” to include her Spanish audience in the fun.

She could always take it to another level with “hola queso.”

Or perhaps, Hola Manchego. No apparent reason? This is just the beginning of the younger sister, ummm… Sweet Aunt Heidi… “teaching” this wonderful child.
So, what words has Alleke added to your vocabulary? One of the many that comes to mind in our family is “Chechup”, aka Ketchup.

Hey Kelly, I stumbled on your blog awhile ago (looking up info on cloth diapers and there you were on a YouTube video!) Anyway, Hi. I just played the recording of Alleke and my two tots both came running from the other room. They were drawn to the baby voice and had to see what it was

That’s so neat that she is distinguishing languages and environments!
On another note, I thought you might be interested in this blog and podcasts on Empathic Parenting (based on things you’ve written here.) I am not involved with the site in any way, and they are not a commercial organization, so it’s not spam
