Spring Cleaning

toddler cleaning floor with mop bucket

While many of my friends and family in the US are making snow angels, here in Madrid I've been leaving the apartment in a t-shirt. It feels a lot like spring already. The cafés are putting out tables in the square, kids are chasing each other around the playground, and young people are lounging in the park.

It's time for spring cleaning--only this year I plan on starting with my blog, not my apartment.

I think some parts of our story might be muddy or unclear. Maybe an unresolved story here or a misplaced detail there. So, metaphorically speaking, I've got out the mop and bleach and am ready to clean up our story--and that's where I need your help answering a question:

Is there anything about our story that you would like to know, but never asked?

Maybe you would like to ask something about our parenting style, or about our life in Spain, or something not baby related that would help you get to know us better.

I reserve the right not to answer a question, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

If you have a question in mind, leave a comment or email me at kellycrull@gmail.com. I'll respond with a series of posts answering your questions. Thanks for participating!

Question #1 from Sandra77 (March 19, 2008):
Is Spain now home for you, April and Alleke? Do you think you'll return to the US to live? Would you live in other cities in Europe? I'm curious about whether Americans who are not retirees really make the switch to permanent living outside of the U.S. Read my answer...

Question #2 from Valerie (May 22, 2008):
My husband and I are being transferred to Spain this summer and we have two small boys (2 1/2 & 1). I was just wondering if you had any suggestions for a daily schedule for toddlers? I planned on slowly transitioning my boys into a Spanish time frame for things before we arrived. Read my answer...

I've been reading for a little while, but haven't commented. I don't really appreciate hearing that it's warm there when it was 12 degrees F here in CT, USA this morning. Enjoy it.

I love Spain btw. I spent a summer in Madrid during college.

I've read several posts where you talk about God or your spirituality. I'd like to know about your church life. What denomination do you belong to? Judging from Alleke's baptism video, I'm guessing you're not Catholic like most Spaniards, probably more observant on a day-to-day basis as well. Do you go to church in Spain? If so, are the other members all Spanish or is there a large expat congregation, and are the services in Spanish?

I'm really curious because when I studied in Seville in college, I actually was invited to attend a Protestant church with some friends of mine-- it seemed like such a rarity.

By the way, go Midwest! I'm from next door in Minnesota. = )

Love your blog! My cousin and I visited Europe about well, 27 years ago. It can't have been that long. It was such an adventure and I still plan to go back. My cousin lived in Barcelona and attended the University there.
Your writing brings back precious memories of when my children were that small.

I have read your blog with great interest - for several reasons...one - you are a good writer and it is interesting to me to hear a father talk with such joy about the life of his child. I would like to hear your take on "certainty" vs "uncertainty". For example....what is "certain" to you, your core....and how it relates to all that is "uncertain" around you...and how that helps or brings struggle and the search for answers into your life as a man, a husband, a father etc.....
