Favorite Sites, Updated

Hey, just a note to say I updated my Favorite Sites page this morning. I’ve officially compiled a complete list of the coolest people on earth. Except, of course, if you’re not on the list, in which case you’ll have to leave a comment and tell me just how cool you are and where to [...]

Park Bench

Last night Alleke and I were sitting on a park bench in the square near our house. Alleke was sitting on my lap, and we were watching the dogs–chasing after tennis balls, lapping water out of the fountain, and running circles around their owners looking for attention. I got thinking about last year at this [...]

More First Steps

I mentioned two weeks ago that Alleke took her first steps. Yesterday she took some more and I got them on video, so now you can see for yourself.

So much for a nap

April and I decided to walk home from the park today. Alleke fell asleep in the baby carrier on my back, and I could feel her little nose nuzzled in between the straps and my shoulder. Alleke needed a nap. She had played hard in the grass, stumbling back and forth between mom and dad, [...]

Mr. Schonewill was a very likable guy, but for the moment he looked frazzled, [...]

Goodbye

Alleke learned to wave goodbye this week, and the disturbing thing is we didn’t teach her how. She just did it herself, without even asking.

The Zoo

Last Thursday we decided to go to the zoo with Alleke and Grandpa and Grandma. Cha chaaaan!Photo by JuliusTheCat. The DolphinsWe sat at the edge of our seats, saying “Did you just see that?” to each other and pointing at the dolphins jumping through hoops and bouncing beach balls on their noses. We all wondered [...]

First Steps

Yesterday Alleke played with power tools. She sat perched on Grandpa’s knee and watched carefully as he helped her squeeze the trigger on the drill, the motor whining as the screws turned into the end of the wood plank sitting on the living room floor. They were building a shelf for our DVDs. Grandpa had [...]
