Beach Ball
We took the bus to the beach this afternoon. I set the backpack down in the sand, unzipped it, and began emptying the contents out around me—frisbee, sun tan lotion, books, towels.
April grabbed the green towel, sat down on her knees in the sand, and set the towel down next to her. She knelt over the sand and dug a small hole. When she was finished it was about the size of a beach ball.
She carefully unrolled the towel and draped it over the hole, smoothing out the corners of the towel and pressing the towel into the hole until it was a good fit.
She grabbed her book and lay down on the towel, burrowing her belly into the hole in the sand with the dignity and satisfaction of a pregnant woman who had just discovered the perfect way to lie on her belly.

That’s awesome! I laughed out loud.
k
i can see april so meticulous at her work and you just looking at her in awed admiration then with your ‘aha!’. very poetic how you described it.
That’s right. We’ll see you in a couple weeks. You can see April lounging in the sand all for yourself!

I just did that when we were in Rome (actually a bit outside of Rome)! It is the best. I am a stomach sleeper and it is horrible not to be able to sleep on the stomach anymore! Maybe they need to invent a sandbed for us pregnant stomach sleepers.
